Artist Statement
My diverse work is a reflection of my Arab identity, shaped by the complexities of history, cultural memory, and the enduring spirit of resilience. As a ceramic artist, I engage with clay as a symbol of both fragility and strength, much like the history and struggles of the Arab world. The stages of clay represent a metaphor for the human condition. I, an Iraqi refugee, explore how the collective experience of adversity, migration, and displacement has made its forever mark on Arab culture and how resilience is expressed in the most intimate and enduring ways. I display these intimate moments through texture, color, and form. I create my art to showcase my culture, which often gets misunderstood in the Western world.

By sharing my work, I invite the viewer to reflect on their own experiences of identity and resilience, and to consider how adversity shapes us but does not define us. In this ongoing dialogue, I hope to create a safe space for conversations about belonging, healing, and the power of collective strength.
